Updated Visitor Information: All visitors ages 5 and older must show proof they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine for admission to the museum, in accordance with NYC requirements. Visitors aged 18 and older will also be asked to show photo ID. Visitors 12 and older require proof of two vaccine doses. Face coverings are required for all over the age of 2, even if vaccinated. Presenting art objects spanning 5,000 years of artistic endeavor gathered from five continents: Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America.

Countries represented include Germany, Greece, India, Japan, Liberia, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, and the United States. The oldest piece is an Egyptian funerary statuette of a striding man, dating from 2,000 BCE.
