Family History Month Workshop 2: Transcribe-a-thon
Saturday, November 21, 2026, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Free with museum admission.
Help the Staten Island Museum transcribe newly digitized family history records, making them more easily searchable and accessible for researchers. A transcribe-a-thon is an event where people gather to work simultaneously on a transcription project. No previous experience is required. Training and snacks will be provided. Bring your own laptop or tablet.
This program is part of the museum’s Access Collaboration and Equity in Genealogy Initiative (ACEGen). ACEGen endeavors to document and make publicly accessible records from communities that have been underrepresented in historical institutional collecting. ACEGen fosters collaboration between repositories, organizations, and the public to improve access and equity in Staten Island’s family history records. These programs are supported by the New York Community Trust and the Altman Foundation.
