DESCRIPTION:Free with museum admission. \nJoin Here You Are artists Siobhan McBride and Lea Simoniello in the auditorium and gallery to learn more about their artwork and creative practice. McBride’s paintings are descriptions of strange and quotidian experiences\, passages from books\, film fragments\, things caught in the corner of the eye and an attempt to conjure slippery memories. Simoniello’s work is a deeply personal\nexcavation of body\, gender\, and psychological landscape. Through oil painting\, graphite\, and textile sculpture\, Simoniello explores themes of femininity\, masculinity\, abuse\, athleticism\, and vulnerability.

DESCRIPTION:NEW DATE: Now on Sunday\, March 29th \nFree with museum admission. \nJoin artist and scholar Kay Turner as she unfolds the archetype of Hekate\, Greek goddess of many things–the Crossroads\, the Underworld\, the Moon. She was also very much associated with the cycle of fruition and decay. Her worshippers held “suppers” for her at crossroads shrines and left the refuse in her honor. \nAbout the artist: Kay Turner is an artist and scholar working across disciplines including performance\, writing\, music\, exhibition curation\, and public and academic folklore. She is noted for her feminist writings and performances on subjects such as women’s home altars\, fairy tale witches\, and historical goddess figures. She co-founded “Girls in the Nose\,” a lesbian feminist rock punk band that anticipated riot grrl. \nread more here. \n
