Audio Stories by APMD

On "view" beginning November 3, 2018.

This site-specific audio installation by APMD (artists AJ Pantaleo and Mike Dibenedetto) consists of five tracks inspired by Staten Island history and culture as expressed in the exhibits at the Staten Island Museum. The audio pieces will be placed along the traditional audio-guide path and can be accessed using handheld devices available at the front desk. To celebrate the launch of this project, APMD will perform a live concert incorporating music inspired by the audio tour along with light projections, creating a unique audio-visual experience. Refreshments served.

This project is made possible in part by a DCA Premier Grant from Staten Island Arts, with public funding from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.

About the Artists:

APMD is the award winning brain child of AJ Pantaleo and Mike Dibenedetto. Together they create immersive audio experiences through the use of drone, melody and rhythm.

AJ Pantaleo is a session and touring musician, who has been performing and recording with various artists for over 15 years. AJP is known for his powerful, groove oriented drumming played with a vibrant energy that translates both live and on recording. He is influenced by rock, jazz, hip-hop, experimental music and cinema. He has been recording and touring with Baked (Exploding in Sound Records) since 2015 and is a founding member of the post-punk band Bueno.

Mike DiBenedetto is a musical artist based out of Staten Island, NY. DiBenedetto uses a guitar and a sampler routed through two effects chains to create a backdrop of drones and live instrumentation for performances and recordings. He has worked on various projects in the NYC area since 2009 and is currently one half of APMD, a project utilizing drums, drone and a video presentation.
