Young Man and Girl


A charcoal on paper drawing by American artist Rudolph Schebelitz (1884 - 1959) of a young man and woman seated and looking into the distance.  The large tree trunks in the background give the suggestion of a forest.

Rudolph Frederick Schabelitz was born in Staten Island and was the son of artist Charles F. Schabelitz.  Rudolph attended the Arts Students League in New York City, the city where he made is career as an illustrator and painter.  He is known for his street scene artwork as well as figure depiction.  Schabelitz was a member of the Salmagundi Club, Society of Illustrators, and the Society of Independent Artists.
