View of the Narrows

This view could have been from the vicinity of Fort Hill in Staten Island since the large white edifice with the cupola/tower is one of the  buildings at the Quarantine Station in Tompkinsville, Staten Island. The Dutch  Reformed Church is to the left. The artist's Dutch heritage and  training are evident in the cluster of village buildings nestled  into the earth and the two figures in costume are reminiscent of  the Lowlands.
