St. Catherine of Sienna


Full-length portrait of Saint Catherine of Siena done by an unknown artist of the Siennese school.   Saint Catherine of Siena (1347-1380) was a nun, scholar, and theologian who worked to bring the papacy of Gregory  XI back from France and helped bring peace to the Italian city-states.  She is one of two patron saints of Italy.
