Cyclists

A1956.6.1

A watercolor and gouache painting depicting three bicycle racers.  This was completed in 1955 in Paris during a cross-country bicycle race, possibly the Tour de France.

Paul Grady England was born in Hugo, Oklahoma and died in Rocky Point, New York. He earned a BA at Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, PA in 1940 and a  M.A. at the University of Tulsa in 1959.  England also studied at the Art Students League, N.Y. between 1943-1946 and Zadkine Studio, Paris, France in 1948-49.   He was also a Professor of Art at Hofstra University from 1959-1986.  England has been exhibited widely and his artwork is in the collections of many museums.
