Lunar New Year Celebration!

Say goodbye to the year of the Fire Rooster and hello to the year of the Earth Dog as the Staten Island Museum and the Korean Community Development Center celebrate Lunar New Year 설날 with traditional food, performances, and activities! After trying on a hanbok and learning how to saebae, enjoy Tteokguk 뗙국(rice cake soup), Japchae (noodle dish), and sweet rice cakes. 

Dont miss the Chinese Lion Dance performed in the southern tradition by Xiaolin Martial Arts at 3:00pm!

In collaboration with the Korean Community Development Center 

(Museum admission is a suggested $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, $2 for children 2-12, Free for Museum Members and children under 2)

Performance Schedule:

1:00 – Traditional Korean royal dance called Tae Pyeong Mu, 태평무 performed by Ms. Lee Kumwon
1:30 – Tae Kwon Do demonstration by Master Ray Park and the New York Tae Kwon Do Martial Arts School
2:00 – Greater Youth Symphony of Staten Island
2:00 – Participate in moving meditation at Intro to Tai Chi with Jonathan Bricklan
3:00 – Chinese Lion Dance performed in the southern tradition by Xiaolin Martial Arts
